No. That is the DIY / 3D-print rate: $55/hr, usually quoted as a small package from a sketch or a photo. You get a printable file, not a production drawing. If the part needs GD&T or a shop print, I will say so and quote the 2D or 3D rate instead.

What should I send to start?

Accepted Answer

Whatever you have: a sketch, a photo of a broken part, a PDF, or existing CAD. A short note on what it has to do and who is making it is worth more than a long spec. Formats for the handoff are confirmed on the quote.

What kinds of projects do you model?

Accepted Answer

Parts, assemblies, project layouts, housings, weldments, and production drawings. Scientific, concept, and functional-device illustration from the same CAD. Beam and optical layouts when the project needs them. If it has to fit, be made, or be understood, it is in scope.

Do you do proposal or scientific illustration?

Yes. A large part of the illustration work is proposal figures: concept designs and functional-device views for bid packages. Same shop for scientific illustration, patents, exploded views, and how-it-works figures — from the CAD model, not a disconnected drawing. Quoted at the illustration rate, usually as a figure set.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. Send yours, or ask for a short mutual NDA before files move. Do not put ITAR, EAR, or other export-controlled data in the web form — email or call first so we can set a proper handoff.

Most work is quoted as a package once I have seen the files. Hourly rates are published so you know the floor: DIY / 3D print from $55/hr, 2D from $75/hr, 3D and illustration from $95/hr, advanced from $115/hr, product design from $145/hr. You only pay for the CAD that is needed.

How fast is a typical job?

A single part drawing or a clean model from existing CAD is often days, not weeks. A full assembly or layout package depends on the revision loop. You get a date with the quote.

Do you do ASME Y14.5 GD&T?

Accepted Answer

Yes — Y14.5-2018. Feature control frames, datums, and notes written so a shop inspecting to that standard gets the same part you intended. Confirm your shop is on 2018 if inspection is contractual.

Where are you based?

Albuquerque, New Mexico. Professional CAD expert. US-based. Files stay in the United States. Remote work nationwide is the default; local pickup or a plant visit can be arranged.

Can you rebuild old or broken CAD?

Yes. Legacy 2D, outdated CAD files, and exchange files that lost their feature tree are common. I rebuild them as parametric models and current drawings rather than tracing pixels.

How do revisions work after delivery?

Quote includes agreed revision rounds. After sign-off, a new change is a new small quote — not an open tab. I keep the feature tree so a hole move is a hole move, not a remodel.

How do I pay? New Mexico GRT?

Invoice on delivery or at agreed milestones. New Mexico clients: gross receipts tax applied as required. Out-of-state work is invoiced per NM sourcing rules. Net terms on the quote.
